The first of the three SV-supported Community Power Hubs has kicked off with the Inception Meeting for the Latrobe Valley Community Power Hub in Morwell.
Twenty-eight skilled and committed people plotted and planned how to harness their personal energy into community energy to assist the valley with the transition to renewable energy generation.
Taryn Lane (Hepburn Wind and Embark) was the skilled facilitator that steered the group to agreement towards structure and function with a model of governance that will keep the purposes front of mind – community generated energy, used locally with the benefits staying in the community.
Gippsland Climate Change Network Chair Cr Darren McCubbin of Wellington welcomed the group that had diverse representation from agencies, councils and community across the region. The dots on the map showing the brainstorming sessions of project ideas and opportunities indicate that an early problem will be selecting the first project from the plethora of prospects. This is a nice problem to have!
