The community has had a number of meetings and workshops since February this year to determine what is their vision for community renewable energy, the types of applications and potential ownership structures. A committee has been appointed by the community which is investigating concepts of energy efficiency and green power purchase, energy assessments and retrofits, and a microgrid based on the Yackandandah model. There is acceptance to include small scale wind generators, pumped hydro and PV installations as the primary power sources. The first step has been the voluntary sharing of electricity billing data in order to quantify the scope for the project(s) which has been assessed within the range 25kW to 650kW power capacity. The next step will be the development of feasibility studies for the options proposed.
