A new 11KW Solar PV system installed on the Yea Pottery Studio and the Men’s Shed will provide cheaper power bills and contribute to lowering carbon emissions in Yea.

The installation was made possible by a Sustainability Victoria grant through the Community Power Hub program, coordinated by Indigo Power and GV Community Energy.

John Anderson from community group 2030Yea Inc, said the solar installation is another step along the way to Yea’s 100% renewable energy future.

“This is the continuation of community engagement with renewable energy in Yea. We are delighted to have this 11KW of solar installed on the Community Shed as we continue on the path to our 100% target,” John said.

“Not only will it result in cheaper power costs for the building, but it also will reduce local climate emissions.”

RACV Solar carried out the installation and the project was made possible thanks to the support of Murrindindi Shire Council and was funded by Sustainability Victoria, through the Hume Community Power Hub.
