The MCPH is the first of its kind in metropolitan Melbourne.
We’re a group of like-minded energy practitioners, climate action groups and passionate citizens – all coming together in a high impact “one stop” Hub to share practical climate solutions with our metro community.
The Yarra Energy Foundation is delighted to be leading this landmark project.
What We’re Doing
The Metro Community Power Hub is committed to equipping local communities with the expertise and know-how they need to drive down emissions in their own neighbourhoods.
We believe in the power of people to supercharge our transition to a zero carbon future.
Whether it’s putting more solar on rooftops, helping people reduce their energy bills or facilitating flagship projects which transform our suburbs, we’re passionate about accelerating towards an exciting energy future which benefits everyone.
We’re all about tangible outcomes and creating positive change across our city.
Who We’re Working With
At the heart of the MCPH are partnerships between local climate groups and their communities.
The Hub brings together the skills and vision of the following community climate action groups:
- Bayside Climate Crisis Action Group
- Darebin Climate Action Now
- Eastern Climate Action Melbourne
- Glen Eira Emergency Climate Action Network
- Jewish Climate Network
- Lighter Footprints (Boroondara region)
- Port Phillip Emergency Climate Action Network
- Port Phillip EcoCentre
- SEAM
- Yarra Climate Action Now
We welcome partnerships with climate groups from across metro Melbourne, councils, sustainably-focused businesses and community organisations.
Leading the Hub is the not-for-profit Yarra Energy Foundation, which brings extensive professional expertise, a strong track record in helping households embrace renewable energy, and its reputation for providing trusted and independent advice.
Our Programs & Projects
Our Foundation Programs
- Providing advice, quotes and installations of quality rooftop solar systems through our MCPH Solar Program, with our network of vetted suppliers and up to 20% off standard retail prices – read more here.
- Offering energy consults, information sessions and expert resources on joining the All-Electric Home movement.
- Building greater energy literacy through workshops and training which helps our communities use energy more efficiently – a win for them and for our environment.
Our Flagship Projects
A flagship project is any stand-alone community energy project outside the realm of Foundation Programs.
Examples could include installing solar panels on the roof of local footy club rooms, a group of businesses joining forces on a shopping strip to convert to renewable energy, or a community battery – the possibilities are enormous.
Working with its vetted supplier partners and as the lead MCPH agency, the Yarra Energy Foundation can accelerate feasibility and scoping work, offer its many years of expertise and, where possible, fast-track relevant processes for our community Roundtable Partners.
