The LVCPH have partnered with the Baw Baw Shire, Latrobe City Council, Wellington Shire, and energy expert Yarra Energy Foundation (YEF) to bring a solar bulk buys program to Gippsland.
Local residents, businesses, clubs, farms, weekenders, and off-grid properties will have the chance to purchase quality Tier One roof-top solar panels, smart inverters, batteries and other off-grid solutions. Solar hot water systems produced by Earthworker in Morwell will also be on offer.
Local installers will be used to ensure that the installations and maintenance support local jobs while providing reliable ongoing support for the units.
The program will also grow community energy capacity as each solar system sold will increase a donation amount of solar to be made to the local community at the end of the program.
Some households will be eligible for the Victorian Government’s Solar Homes rebates. Eligible households can claim a 50% rebate on the cost of a solar PV system installed after the 19th August 2018 (up to a maximum rebate of $2,225) or a $1,000 rebate for the replacement of hot water systems with solar hot water. Additional rebates and now available for batteries, renters/landlords, and interest free loans.
