Here’s a community energy idea … A local Community Power Hub is working with a local farming community to explore the feasibility of setting up a renewable energy co-operative. The exact nature of the project is yet to be defined but might be a form of electricity trading or a virtual power station or the establishment of a community owned small turbine wind farm or solar garden. Other options include the installation of renewable energy solution/s on each property through bulk purchase or the installation of a renewable energy solution on a community asset such as the local hall.  A facilitator has been engaged to help the community confirm that it wants and needs some sort of energy co-operative; that there is actual, practical support for the project that can be translated into committed, community action; and, that there is leadership, as well as volunteers, who will undertake the necessary work while the CPH continues its role of facilitation and support.
