Rooftop solar is popular but sometimes knowing what is best for you premises is hard to work out. It’s also hard to get more than one quote when you live in a distant town; contractors are often reluctant to make the trip to see you when they are very busy in cities and regional centres. CPH Ballarat is helping a small community with a ‘modified’ bulk buy. The plan is that interested households are assisted to get an independent assessment of the best installation for their situation, then up to three supply/installation businesses will be asked to come to the area and quote for the 10 to 20 households that are participating in the bulk buy. This way, the businesses that are quoting will be more likely to be interested in visiting the area and the community members will have the support of each other when making decisions.
