Here’s a community energy idea … A local Community Power Hub is investigating a business case for capturing heat discharged from a gas furnace, to produce electricity. The project will identify if the heat can be efficiently converted to electricity and stored for use. If successful, this would become an important demonstration site for other institutional incinerators. This not for profit organisation is considered a public asset therefore any business efficiency gains will be returned to the community through reduced product costs and increased maintenance levels. Environmental benefits will include reduced centralised energy consumption and a reduced dependency on natural resources (gas) which is a strategic objective of the organisation.
