Here’s a community energy idea … A local Community Power Hub is exploring the feasibility of a biomass boiler to provide steam and hot water to a commercial laundry that currently uses natural gas.  If this initiative is feasible, then costs to the organisation would be reduced which, in turn, would allow the service to employ more people with disabilities.  It would also provide a market for waste wood biomass (wood chips) that could be supplied by disability service providers or the private sector, both of which would generate local employment.  Another community benefit would be the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions through the use of waste biomass rather than fossil fuels.
